Wisconsin Youth Earn Over $3,300 in Scholarships
Another successful Wisconsin Adult-Youth Scholarship Tournament is in the books with 14 youth bowlers receiving a share of $3,380 in scholarships! This year’s event had 144 doubles teams consisting of a youth and adult bowler. All teams participating at the state finals at Lincoln Lanes in Merrill earned their spots through in-center or local association competitions. BCAW is very pleased with the continued growth and participation in this fun event.
Teams competed in one of three divisions based on the youth’s age. The divisions were U10, U15 and U20 with 34, 67 and 43 entries respectively. All bowlers bowled three games. Standings were determined based on total pins plus handicap (100% of 220 average). Scholarships were awarded based on a 1:10 ratio and included $500 in added money. All scholarships will be deposited with SMART and administered by USBC.
The first place teams in each division were:
U10 Emma Purdy & Brian Stricker of RiversEdge Bowl with a score of 1,496. Emma received a $350 scholarship.
U15 Hailey Hart & Michael Hart of Village Bowl with a total score of 1,645. Hailey received a $500 scholarship.
U20 Jordan Kons & Katie Sheppard of Keglers Bowling Center with a 1,596 total score. Jordan received a $380 scholarship.
The “low to cash” scores for scholarships were: U10 1,451; U15 1,480 and U20 1,496. The list of scholarship winners may be found here.
The high game for the youth bowlers was 269 by Brittany Schwartz of Revs Bowl, Bar & Grill. We had two 299 games rolled by adults . . . Tyrone Trabert of The Lanes on 20 and Michael Hart of Village Bowl. Hart also had the tournament high series, pounding out an 824 series!
We thank all of our BCAW member centers, youth coordinators and families for supporting this annual event! A special thank you goes out to Jim Arndt, co-proprietor of Lincoln Lanes and their entire team for contributing to the success of this event.
