Candidates Sought for BCAW Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is the governing body of BCAW and has the ultimate policy and fiscal responsibilities of the organization. The board is elected by the membership to provide vision, leadership and oversight of the organization.
Primary Functions of the Board
Board members should know the “big picture” of the board’s major functions. Most organizations rely on the board to fulfill five fundamental roles: governance, policy & position development, visionary, fiduciary and recruitment.
The BCAW Board of Directors generally meets in person twice per year, plus by teleconference as necessary between meetings.
All board members are elected and serve for a term of two years. At our October 2, 2017 Annual Meeting, the BCAW membership will vote to elect the following board positions: treasurer, secretary and four directors. Each of these six current board members are eligible to run for reelection at this meeting.
Any regular member of the association is eligible to run for a position on the board. The BCAW Board of Directors Description and Candidate Profile Form must be completed and submitted no later than August 15, 2017 to be considered. The BCAW Nominating Committee chaired by BCAW Immediate Past President Steve Hanson will review all submissions and present their recommended slate of candidates to the membership on or before September 22, 2017.
