URGENT NEWS – BCAW Events & COVID-19

 In News

As you all know, Wisconsin has been impacted by COVID-19 which has necessitated our taking action regarding a number of BCAW events and programs scheduled over the coming days, weeks and months.  Earlier this morning Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers recommended events with more than 250 people be cancelled as a precaution for the health and safety of our communities.

BCAW President Erik Gialdella and I have been in communication to develop an action plan for our association, understanding this situation is fluid and changing as more information and direction is being provided to the public.  With that, we have the following to share with you today regarding upcoming events and programs from BCAW:

HSBC All Star Team Challenge (March 14, 2020)
This event has been cancelled.  We will be issuing refunds next week to all districts who have paid their team entry fees.

We will continue to monitor the situation and make decisions that we feel are responsible and in the best interest of the communities we serve, for all other future BCAW events.

Wisconsin Middle School Bowling Club (MSBC)
At this time, there is no plan to cancel the Wisconsin MSBC Program, as we know some districts have already started their seasons.  We encourage each MSBC District to make decisions that are appropriate and consistent with their local situation.  Some districts may elect to cancel their MSBC season, while others may choose to proceed.  As things progress in the coming weeks, we will make a decision regarding the scheduled MSBC State Tournament currently scheduled for May 2, 2020.

Wisconsin Pepsi USBC Regionals (March 21, 22, 28, 29, 2020)
We are proceeding with our administrative work in preparation for the scheduled regional events being hosted at 16 centers around the state. If a decision is made to cancel, full refunds of all entry fees will be made.  If the regional events are cancelled, we will also be cancelling the WI Pepsi State Finals, scheduled for May 9, 2020.

Wisconsin Adult Youth Scholarship Tournament State Finals (April 18, 19, 25, 26, 2020)
Qualifying may continue through the published deadline of March 21, 2020 with all state entries due to the BCAW Office no later than April 6, 2020.  If the state tournament is cancelled, we will issue full refunds.

Wisconsin Vintage Alleys Tour (April 26, 2020)
A decision will be made at a later date regarding this event, with full refunds if we cancel.

BPAA Boot Camp (May 12, 2020)
BPAA along with our facility host SYSCO are closely monitoring the situation.  We will update our members should this event necessitate rescheduling or cancellation.

We encourage everyone to practice safe sanitation and personal hygiene.  Wash your hands frequently; avoid physical contact with others; cover your mouth & nose when you cough or sneeze.  If you are sick or believe you have been exposed to COVID-19, please self-isolate or see a medical professional as appropriate.

To all bowling center operators, BPAA has put together an informational video and list of resources available to you as you navigate through the coming days and weeks.  Please go to BPAA.com to access the tools and information being provided to you.

We will continue to monitor the situation here in Wisconsin and provide updates through our communication channels including this website, Facebook and direct email.   We appreciate your concern and support and look forward to seeing you on the lanes soon!

Yours in bowling,
Yvonne Bennett
