WI Pepsi Championships – Big SMART Announcement Made
The Wisconsin Pepsi USBC Championships were held on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Bowlero Wauwatosa. The top 125 U12, U15 and U18 bowlers in the boys’ and girls’ divisions competed for $10,825 in the previously announced prize fund. With 24 bowlers receiving their share of scholarship money, the big announcement of the day was that the event would also be awarding another $10,100 . . . providing a minimum $100 scholarship to ALL competitors bowling in the state finals.
This was made possible through the SMART Program, administered by the USBC and their May 4, 2021 distribution of 2020 accrued fund earnings in the provider account held for the WI Pepsi State Program.
WI Pepsi Tournament Director Yvonne Bennett states “Providing scholarships is something BCAW strongly supports. Having these additional funds made available to this program enables us to offer more money to kids who bowl and want to pursue education and vocational training after high school. As the BCAW Executive Director, I’m honored to be the steward of this fabulous program supported by the Bowling Centers Association of Wisconsin and proprietors throughout our state.”
It is the long-term desire to continue to provide enhanced scholarship opportunities as part of the WI Pepsi USBC Championships in the future.
