Team and singles champions crowned at 2023 Wisconsin Middle School State Championships

The Sheboygan Boys team from District 7A took home the Boys’/Coed team title May 6 at the 2023 Wisconsin Middle School State Championships.
The BCAW Middle School Bowling Program wrapped up another successful season in early May as youth bowlers from across the state converged on Green Bay for the state tournament.
A total of 57 teams and 223 singles competitors hit the lanes on May 6 at The Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley in Green Bay to vie for team and individual titles at the 2023 Wisconsin Middle School Bowling State Championships.
It was standing-room only at the 60-lane center as excited youth bowling fans jammed the concourse for the day-long event.

The Wittenberg-Birnamwood Middle School team from District 9 won the Girls’ team title May 6 at the Wisconsin Middle School State Championships.
In team competition, Sheboygan won the Boys’/Coed division championship while Wittenberg-Birnamwood took home the girls’ division crown.
Sheboygan cruised through the 12-game Baker style team tournament with a 2,355 total (196.25 average) to take the state title, easily topping runner-up DC Everest and its 2,198 total. Antigo Middle School finished third with a 2,156 total.
In the girls’ division, Wittenberg-Birnamwood edged the Kenosha Girls #1 team by just eight pins (1,968 to 1,960) to capture the state title. The Watertown Bowl Girls finished third with a 1,752 total.
The singles event featured competition for both boys and girls in three divisions based on season-long fill ratio.
In girls’ singles competition, Zariah Birkholz took home the Division A title with a 625 three-game series. Molly Lessner (592) was runner-up. Emma Taylor rolled a 533 series to win the girls’ Division B singles crown with Mariah Heil (517) taking second. In Division C, Abbey Shaha (494) won the title while Kallie Newkirk (382) finished second.

In boys’ singles, Cooper Kaufmann took home the Division A championship in a tight battle. Kaufmann rolled 658, while Brady Jaecks was close behind at 653 for second and Dylan Boldt rolled 652 for third. Riley Champion (625) edged Blake Barndollar (623) for the Division B title. In Division C, Cale Massie rolled a 586 series for the title. Eliezer Hauer was runner-up with 566.
